Family history notes, 1898.

This notebook contains a family history of the Gambles and transcriptions of various documents relating to events in the family's past. It is, in fact, a compilation of notes kept by Col. John G. Gamble and used as a basis for a family history being written at that time. Col. John G. Gamble's son, Major Robert Gamble, brought them together in this notebook. Apart from the family history, the notebook contains Revolutionary War records of Robert Gamble (1754-1810), extracts from articles regarding Gamble genealogy, and the Seminole War (particularly the Battle of Withlacoochee) journal of Major Robert Gamble (1813-1906). Also included is a narrative account of the burning of Tallahassee in 1843 and a brief description of the treatment of slaves by the Gamble family.
